Intimate, international & eco-friendly, the first Tandem Festival was held in June 2014 with people cycling from across the country & as far afield as Belgium, to convene in Oxfordshire for a long weekend of music-making & celebration.
What binds the Tandem community together is its ethos, fusing community activism, creativity & sustainability. Tandem’s aim is to bring environmental issues to new audiences through the arts, whilst celebrating & promoting a collaboration between the vibrant cultures of Europe & beyond. Since 2014, the 3-day event has been packed with a unique blend of music, talks, workshops, & documentaries from over 100 international artists & 40 community groups, presenting sustainability in an engaging, fun & accessible way.
“Tandem is more than a music festival – it’s a celebration of happy & healthy living” – previous attendee
After a 1-day mini festival Tandem in the Garden in 2016, in partnership with Restore, the full blown Tandem Festival is back this Summer! Transferring Tandem’s unique eco-friendly & community-rooted ethos to Lower Farm, Oxfordshire. The Festival’s return has been heralded with success, as the Super Early Bird tickets have sold out in just a few weeks!
The Festival was born thanks to the initiative of locals deeply rooted in the Oxford community. Today, Tandem is still entirely volunteer-run & continues to work with local institutions, artists & projects, such as Oxford Community Action Groups, OVADA & Low Carbon Oxford.
Tandem now welcomes applications from local & international bands, workshop leaders & traders to become part of the Festival. Everyone is invited to get on board & share a piece of Tandem. Application forms can be completed here.
