Since our launch in 2014, Tandem Collective has run, mostly on volunteer power, a wide variety of projects including events, publications and artistic residencies aimed at achieving our mission. The Tandem Skills Camp, launched in 2015, was one of our key projects and was funded by Abingdon & Witney College Adult Learning Department which formalised Tandem Skills Camp as a valuable learning resource for the community. The camp was also funded by Community Action Groups (CAGs)

The Skills Camp was a series of free, fun and collaborative countryside-based workshops that were run at the Tandem Festival site in the build up to the Festival. The workshops taught a range of practical skills including carpentry, sewing, set painting, sign making and foraging.

In 2018 we ran 8 workshops across the 2 weeks before the festival, during the festival itself and in the 2 weeks of pack-down after the festival. The workshops were all offered free of charge and we ran a scheme that allowed the work the volunteers did at the Skills Camp to count towards a free festival ticket. We also provided transport and communal meals.
