InTandem is a quarterly publication, both online and in print, that fuses social and environmental issues with the arts. Now into its 4th edition, it aims to make these issues more accessible and relevant to new audiences through the arts.

InTandem showcases creative writing that explores writers’ responses to the environmental and social justice issues faced in today’s world. It currently runs Rise in collaboration with Oxford Climate Society, a biannual zine celebrating creativity in the face of climate change. In 2019, it is also launching a new partnership with Flo’s in the Park and the Oxford Poetry Library called Lost Words. This will run as a workshop series that uses nature walks with established ecologists, including Nick Boyd, and poetry workshops with local poets, including Phoebe Nicholson, to allow children to explore and connect with the natural world in a creative and engaging way. The workshop series is inspired by Robert MacFarlane and Jackie Morris’ 2017 book Lost Words: A Spell Book. The poems that the children produce in response to their experience during the nature walk will be collated into a zine that will be a lasting anthology of the children’s’ experience. We are hoping the children will want to perform their poetry at a launch event or at Tandem Festival.
